n8n is an open-source automation tool. Three options: n8n Cloud (from $20/month), self-hosted Docker, self-hosted npm. Self-hosting is free with source code access.
Visit n8nQuick try: sign up for n8n Cloud. Self-host: Docker command docker run -it --rm -p 5678:5678 -v n8n_data:/home/node/.n8n docker.n8n.io/n8nio/n8n. Access localhost:5678.
Deployment DocsMount a volume with -v in Docker to persist data across restarts. For production, pair with PostgreSQL and a reverse proxy.
Click "Add Workflow". Add the first node (Trigger) on canvas—choose type (Webhook, Schedule, Manual, etc.). Click + to add subsequent nodes connecting apps.
n8n's HTTP Request node can call any REST API. Pair with the "Code" node for JS data transformations—automate almost anything.
Click "Execute Step" on a node for single-step test, or "Execute Workflow" for full flow. Each node shows input/output JSON. Toggle the switch at top right to activate after testing.
